Futon Mattress

The futon mattress is the heart and soul of any futon. Even the most elegantly designed futon can be rendered useless without a proper mattress. However, finding the right mattress is largely a product of preference.

A futon mattress can be found in several different configurations. The most common type is the foam mattress, which as the name suggests, is made from layers of foam rubber. There are also cotton/foam combinations that use a layer of foam rubber surrounded by cotton batting.

Finally, there is the inner-spring futon mattress. These mattresses offer the classic support of internal springs, much like a standard bed mattress. These items, however, are generally more expensive than a traditional futon mattress.
