Futon Frame

The futon frame is the support structure for the futon. It must be built to stand up to years of sitting, sleeping, moving and yet be elegant in its appearance. Fortunately, there are many different frame designs from which to choose.

A futon frame normally comes in one of two basic designs; bi-fold and tri-fold. A bi-fold design is what most people think of when they hear the word futon. These frames have a single hinge unit that separate the two bed sections.

A tri-fold futon frame has two hinge sections that separate three bed sections. These futons have the advantage of being able to be folded out into not only a bed, but a lounger as well. Most frame designs are available in twin, queen and king sizes.
